Abstract

In this paper a method is presented to combine incremental notch approximation methods for multiaxial cyclic loading with a cyclic plasticity model. The proposed solution algorithm improves the numerical stability of incremental notch approximation methods. This allows a load path to be discretised with few increments thus the computational effort is lowered. The proposed method is used for three known incremental notch approximation methods, the Neuber method, the ESED method and the Unified Expression. To validate the notch approximations the results are compared against finite element calculations of a notched component. Both proportional and non-proportional load cases are considered.
