Abstract

Experimental electron energy distributions on the Ge(111) surface are presented for different values of the applied field. The shift of the energy distribution peak position agrees with Modinos' theoretical findings. Numerical studies reveal fine structure in the energy distribution, which is assumed to be due to the existence of surface states in the valence band of germanium.
