Abstract

The electrons produced in the thermal energy associative ionization reaction U + O 2 → UO + 2 + e were energy analyzed. Most of the exoergicity (≈4 cV) of the reaction appears to be retained by the ion in the form of internal energy while the electron emerges with only a small kinetic energy. Three peaks at equal separations of 0.08 eV are observed in the energy spectrum.
