Abstract

The multiplexer is an elementary component of digital electronics. In the domain of communication engineering, a large number of data may come from multiple sources to be passed only through a single output port, hence multiplexer is a most important and fundamental device in almost all technical fields. In the area of nano-communication or nano-electronics, Quantum-dot Cellular Automata (QCA) is eye-catching due to its very little or negligible energy dissipation, promptness, and small facet. The energy dissipation analysis of a QCA multiplexer has been discussed in this article. An addition of this, the effect of cell displacement on QCA multiplexer has been presented in this article as during the layout construction there is a chance of misplacing or displacing of QCA cells which affect the performance of the circuits adversely. The energy dissipation analysis results that the total energy dissipation is 1.06e-002 eV and average energy dissipation per cycle is 9.67e-004 eV of QCA multiplexer. According to cell displacement analysis if there is a decrease in displacement value, then the magnitude of both positive and negative polarization increases.
