Abstract
The energy dependence of DL-alanine, 2-methylalanine, hydroxyapatite, calcite and sucrose in ESR dosimetry in terms of dose-to-water was investigated for clinical 10 MV X-rays using 60Co gamma ray as standard. Dose–response curves were obtained irradiating the dosimeters, which received doses from 1 to 20 Gy. The ESR spectra of the irradiated materials were obtained with a Varian E-4 X-band spectrometer, using microwave power in a non-saturation range and high modulation amplitude of the magnetic field in order to increase the dosimetric signal amplitude of the ESR spectra. The dose–response curves were a linear function and their slopes were used to study the energy dependence for the LINAC irradiation to the 60Co irradiation. The ratios of the slopes were: 0.96 ± 0.05 for DL-alanine, 0.92 ± 0.04 2-methylalanine, 0.96 ± 0.03 sucrose, 1.07 ± 0.28 hydroxyapatite, and 1.02 ± 0.12 calcite.
