Abstract
Onboard electricity storage units used in hybrid traction power plants allow making electric rolling stock much more energy efficient. To appropriately manage energy flows and efficiently use energy storage units based on various physical operating principles, it is necessary to design bidirectional semiconductor converters that would provide charging and discharging in storage units. This article proposes a circuit design for the power section and the control system, as well as control algorithms for dc pulse converters of onboard electricity storage units for prospective traction electric rolling stock. It is shown by computer modeling that the designed system maintains stability and provides a satisfactory quality of transitional processes in all running modes of traction electric drives.
