Abstract

Variable flow volume(VRV) system are growing rapidly in China in recent years and even represent about 36% in commercial air conditioning market in 2012. It is meaningful to do research on the energy consumption of VRV systems in office buildings. In this paper, one set of VRV system in office rooms are monitored in Shanghai. The actual VRV system running characteristics are summarized and corresponding model of VRV system and office building are set up to do energy simulation by TRNSYS. It is found that the simulation results of case1 and case2 for the total energy consumption showed deviations of 13.6% & 28.6% respectively compared with actual data, weather file and setting temperature of VRV system are key factors to ensure simulation accuracy. Related conclusions should be helpful to forecast the energy consumption of VRV systems in office buildings.
