Abstract

In recent years, processing capability of mobile devices had greatly increased. Utilization of service-oriented architecture (SOA) in mobile ad hoc networks will increase efficiency of the running application. Single service cannot solve the complex requirements of the user; hence, in service composition, multiple services are combined to handle complex requirements. The nature of MANETs like heterogeneity in resources, dynamic network topology, and distributed nature makes the service composition as a complex task. Most of the existed service discovery and composition techniques consider one service in one node and QoS constraints are not considered. In this paper, a new node model is proposed where a node maintains multiple services by considering minimum energy constraint associated with the services during service discovery and composition which reduces the number of nodes involved in composition path and thereby reduces the failure rate in composition. The performance of proposed method is measured in ns3 simulation tool, where it outperforms the existing protocols by reducing energy consumption and failure rate of composition.
