Abstract

ABSTRACT This article discusses waste heat recovery opportunities. Some of the opportunities are taken from energy audits and feasibility studies carried out in various plants located in Ontario, Canada. Opportunities discussed in the article include compressed air waste heat recovery, the application of a condensing economizer for heating boiler make-up water, waste heat recovery from coffee roasters, waste heat recovery from chemical reactor exhaust to preheat combustion air, steam boiler blowdown heat recovery, etc. The article also points out how some of the opportunities can be very attractive, depending on specific process and the existing system.
