Abstract
In Bouteloua/Carex/Stipa rangeland (basal cover of 13.1%), 5 levels of plant cover (0, 25, 50, 75 or 100%) were produced by rotavation. Evapotranspiration was highest with 100% cover, but DM production was highest with 50% cover. DM production with 75% was anomalously lower than with 100% cover. Correlation between evapotranspiration and evaporation from Class-A pan was poor, especially in the period of vigourous plant growth in June.-C.C.T.
