Abstract
A novel poly-generation system based on coal partial gasification is proposed which aims at co-production of hydrogen and electricity. Based on cascading utilization of coal and oxy-fuel combustion, the poly-generation system is simulated by Aspen Plus software. The simulation results show that the net efficiency of system presents an increasing-decreasing tendency and it reaches a maximum value when the carbon conversion is 80%. Under the determined carbon conversion, when O2/coal ratio is 0.36, S/C ratio is 0.24, and Sshift/C ratio is 0.67, the energy and exergy efficiency of system reaches 60.24% and 55.68% respectively, which is higher than the referenced poly-generation system by 1.3%. The exergy analyses of subsystems are obtained for the guidance of improving the exergy efficiency of poly-generation system. In the end, experiments of coal partial gasification are conducted to verify the feasibility of the proposed system.
