Abstract

Although it's still the early days for the new administration, significant course changes from the Obama administration are on the horizon. For the more environmentally zealous, these changes may signal the end of days, but from this economist's standpoint, federal energy and environmental policy desperately need an injection of reality. Alas, several states—California and New York, especially—seem more desirous than ever to jump off their respective green cliffs. But at least the rest of the country will not have to jump after them.
