Abstract

The energy density of the centrally produced system in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions and its dependences on the incident energy and on nuclear mass numbers are systematically studied based on the multi-chain model. The relaxation time of the system is estimated and is incorporated in the evaluation of the energy density. It turns out that a thermalized system, having enough energy density for quark-gluon plasma formation, is surely obtained.
