Abstract

A small peak in the electron energy spectrum at an apparent energy value above the energy of elastically scattered electrons was observed using the cylindrical mirror analyzer (CMA) of our own construction. Calculations based on the parameters of this CMA indicate that this peak can be attributed to some elastically scattered electrons which undergo an additional elastic scatter between the entrance and exit slits of the CMA.
