AbstractGas Utilities (MIC: SIC: 4924 NAIC: 221210)Energen is an energy holding company engaged mainly in the development, acquisition, exploration and production of oil and gas in the continental U.S. (oil and gas operations) and in the purchase, distribution, and sale of natural gas principally in central and north Alabama (natural gas distribution). Co.'s two principal subsidiaries are Energen Resources Corporation (Energen Resources) and Alabama Gas Corporation (Alagasco). As of Dec 31 2007, Energen Resources' proved oil and gas reserves totaled 1,754 billion cubic feet equivalent. Also, as of Dec 31 2007, Alagasco's service territory is located in central and parts of north Alabama and included 177 cities and communities in 28 counties.
