Abstract

Massive hemoptysis is a life-threatening condition. The most common sources of bleeding are the systemic arteries, including the bronchial and nonbronchial systemic arteries and, less frequently, the pulmonary artery (PA).1,2 A pulmonary arterial pseudoaneurysm (PAPA) is the most common manifestation of hemoptysis of PA origin and usually involves the peripheral lung.1-4 A central PAPA is rare and is most commonly reported in patients with lung cancer.3-5 We herein describe four patients with massive hemoptysis caused by central PAPA in the context of silicosis combined with pulmonary TB (PTB).
