Abstract

In 2004, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI), American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians, Society for Vascular Medicine and Biology (SVMB, now “SVM”), and the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) co-published the first Clinical Competence Statement on Vascular Medicine and Catheter-based Peripheral Vascular Interventions.1 This consensus document outlined the minimum education, training, experience, and cognitive skills required to competently evaluate and treat patients with arterial, venous, and lymphatic disease.
