Abstract

A 55 year old man presented with recurrent dull abdominal pain for two months. Computed tomography angiography revealed a splenic artery aneurysm (A, asterisk) 24 × 24 mm originating from the SMA (A, arrow) a rare finding. Endovascular repair with coil (Cook Medical, Bloomington, IN, USA), embolisation of the splenic artery, and covered stents (8 × 25 mm + 8 × 50 mm; Viabahn, Gore, Flagstaff, AZ, USA) in the SMA was performed. The post-operative course was uneventful. Aspirin was continued for one year. After two years the SMA was patent with no aneurysm recurrence (B, arrow).Image 1
