Abstract

Pelvic abscesses can occur as complications of abdominal surgery and inflammatory conditions such as appendicitis, diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease and pelvic inflammatory disease [1]. Here, we present what we consider to be the first case report on the use of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided transrectal drainage of a pelvic abscess with placement of transrectal stents, following total abdominal hysterectomy.
