Abstract

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) basically requires a therapeutic gastroscope with a mounted water jet and a magnifying function as well as a transparent hood, but this equipment is not usable in cases with pharyngeal or esophageal stenosis because of the diameter of the gastroscope. This report describes the safety and efficacy of ESD through a gastrostomy in early gastric cancer, with the use of a transnasal gastroscope, in 2 patients with head and neck cancer who had pharyngeal stenosis due to chemoradiation therapy.
