Abstract

A 16-year-old young man was referred to our department because he had experienced severe lower abdominal pain during every defecation since childhood. He had undergone partial enterectomy and subtotal colectomy for Hirschsprung's disease right after birth. Colonoscopy revealed a thick rectal mucosal bridge at the anastomosis of the rectum to the jejunum (A, B). We suspected that the mucosal bridge disturbed stretching of the rectum and that increased intrarectal pressure by an accumulation of stool would cause severe abdominal pain.
