Abstract

Colonoscopy and polypectomy reduce the incidence and mortality of colorectal cancer (CRC). Most polyps are small and are readily removed with conventional snare polypectomy. Large laterally spreading lesions (LSTs) constitute 1% to 2% of the disease burden. EMR is an effective outpatient treatment for large LSTs, with morbidity and cost advantages in comparison with surgical resection.
