Abstract

A 62-year-old man was admitted to our gastroenterology unit complaining of epigastric pain. On February 3, 2012, the patient underwent an upper GI endoscopy (GIF-H180J; Olympus, Tokyo, Japan) that demonstrated antral erosions and a giant bezoar with shiny surface occupying over half of the gastric lumen (Fig. 1A; Video 1, available online at www.giejournal.org). Laboratory tests showed no abnormalities. Initial attempts to soften the bezoar with various drinks such as a cola drink, soda, and pineapple juice every day did not help.
