Abstract
Purpose: In real time elastography the elastic properties of soft tissues are imaged superimposed on a B-mode image in real time. Elasticity imaging may add important information for tissue characterisation helping to separate malignant from benign lesions. The method can be used in tumour staging or for targeting biopsies.
