Abstract

A 47-year-old white female presented with pancreatitis and pleural effusion, and a pancreatic-pleural fistula was demonstrated by endoscopic retrogarde cholangiopancreaticography (ERCP). She was treated with central total parenteral nutrition with resolution of the fistula. This case demonstrates the value of ERCP in the evaluation of pancreatic-pleural fistula, as well as the possible benefit of hyperalimentation as a treatment modality for this complication. The discussion includes a review of the literature with respect to pancreatic-pleural fistulae.
