Abstract

Various means for fragmentation of biliary calculi have been devised. However, shock wave lithotripsy is ineffective if the calculi are surrounded by air, and mechanical lithotripsy may not be possible when a calculus is extremely large. This is the first report of successful endoscopic microwave fragmentation of a bile duct stone.
