Abstract

A 55-year-old woman underwent open cholecystectomy 27 years ago for suspected biliary symptoms. One year later, she had recurrent right upper quadrant (RUQ) pain and underwent laparotomy with some form of bile duct surgery. Five years ago, she was referred to our institution for evaluation of suspected operative biliary stricture. We performed an ERCP and discovered a choledochoduodenostomy (CDD), a very distal bile duct stricture, and debris in the bile duct. The diagnosis of sump syndrome was made.
