Abstract

Strong ENDOR signals arising from a reduction of the ESR absorption were observed by applying an intense RF field. For example, in the case of an X ray irradiated crystal of N-acetylglycine, some signal intensities exceeded 10% of the ESR signal intensity. These signals appeared to arise from nuclear spin decoupling rather than population modulation, as in conventional ENDOR. Their behavior was found to be completely different in several respects from that for spin decoupling in high resolution nuclear magnetic resonance in liquids.
