Abstract

The formation of necrotic local lesions on Samsun NN tobacco leaves after infection with tobacco mosaic virus was accompanied by an increase in the IAA content of the inoculated leaves. After lesion growth had stopped, IAA levels in both inoculated and in non-inoculated, symptomless, virusfree leaves did not significantly differ from those in leaves of water-inoculated plants. No connection could be established between IAA level and extent of virus localization.
