Abstract

Radiographs of 164 extracted human teeth were examined with a magnifying lens after the infusion of radiopaque contrast medium under vacuum into their previously cleared canal systems. The form and number of canals generally followed those of the roots, with notable exceptions. The incidence of two canals in the mesiobuccal roots of maxillary first molars was high, and the paucity of furcation canals in posterior teeth was noted.
