Abstract

Human beings physically handicapped by dwarfism have been stimulated to grow by the therapeutic application of the growth-producing hormone from the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland.* This preliminary report presents seven cases of growth deficiency in which extrinsic factors were eliminated by a diagnostic survey. The growth deficiency had existed for varying periods of time, and in all cases there was a control period of observation in which there was no growth. A classification of growth deficiency is presented. The development of a specific growth hormone is outlined and the methods and results of its application in a series of cases is described.
