Endemism of lizards in the Chihuahuan Desert province: An approach based on endemicity analysis

Abstract

• Lizards are good indicators of endemism , defining several patterns across the CD. • A W-E division is recognized, separating the CD in two major areas of endemism. • A geographic re-definition of the CD, including territories of EEUU, is suggested. • Multiple grid-size analyses facilitate describing endemism at different scales. • Combining taxonomic levels reveals areas of endemism not found by using species only.
