Abstract

At its 125th annual meeting in Washington, D.C., last week, the National Academy of Sciences elected 61 new members, bringing the total number of current members to 1540. Among those newly elected, chemists and those in chemically related areas include: Fred C. Anson, professor of chemistry and chemical engineering, California Institute of Technology. Dale E. Bauman, professor of nutritional biochemistry, Cornell University Charles R. Cantor, professor and chairman of genetics and human development, College of Physicians & Surgeons, Columbia University. Eric E. Conn, professor of biochemistry and biophysics, University of California, Davis. Lawrence F. Dahl, Robert E. Rundle Professor of Chemistry, University of Wisconsin. Robert C. Qallo, chief, Laboratory of Tumor Biology, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health. T.
