Abstract

There is an increasing interest in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy as the method for the electrical characterization of biointerfaces and for the transducing method for label-free biosensors. In the field of affinity biosensors, this technique allows the direct detection of the complex formation through the variation of the capacitance or of the charge transfer resistance at the biofunctionalized electrode/biological liquid interface. This article presents the physical principles of electrochemical impedance and the performances of detection of different biotargets.
