Encouraging citizens to perform basic CPR: Potential usefulness of mobile phone applications

Abstract

Purpose: Mortality rate of Out Hospital Cardiac Arrests (OHCA) remain high in our country despite the development of the 112. The cause of this is the low proportion of people who know basic CPR techniques. We need to use other ways for dissemination of these techniques. Multiple authors acknowledge the great development capability that allows Smartphones. They claim that these devices can improve resuscitation skills, in both health workers and untrained citizens with very low costs. Our main objective is to increase the intervention rate by witnesses in OHCA.
