Eine Prise Zucker: Für die asymmetrische Addition von Trimethylsilylcyanid an α-Ketophosphonate wurde der neue difunktionelle, Kohlenhydrat- und Cinchonin-substituierte Thioharnstoff 1 entworfen. Die Produkte dieser Addition konnten zu tertiären α-Hydroxyphosphonaten hydrolysiert werden, die in hervorragenden Enantioselektivitäten erhalten wurden.
