Abstract
(1R)-1-(Hydroxymethyl)-2-acetyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-β-carboline was synthesized in several steps from tryptamine and l-(+)-tartaric acid in good enantiomeric purity (98% ee). The absolute stereochemistry was assigned.
