Abstract

The kinetic resolution of 2-chloro-propionic acid by enzyme catalyzed esterification in different organic solvents has been studied. The rate and enantioselectivity of the reaction catalyzed by yeast ( Canadida cylindracea) lipase were determined under various reaction conditions. The effect of several reaction parameters, such as solvent polarity, water content of the reaction mixture, the nature of the nucleophilic agent, the molar ratio of the substrates and the reaction temperature, are discussed.
