Employment Discrimination: A Concise Review of the Legal Landscape provides a succinct yet comprehensive review of employment discrimination law. It provides readers with a straightforward presentation of the major laws and regulations concerning employment discrimination. The book consists of ten chapters and covers a wide array of topics ranging from discrimination based on race, religion, sex (two chapters), age, disability, and retaliation, as well as a chapter on affirmative action. In this regard, the text covers major employment discrimination laws (e.g., Title VII, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, Equal Pay Act), along with summaries of important court cases that have interpreted them. The material is intended for readers at all levels: from those new to employment discrimination law, to those who are moderately familiar, and for readers with advanced knowledge. To provide easy access to primary source information, this book includes links to court decisions, various laws and regulations, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) guidelines, videos, legal commentaries, and reviews, as well as oral arguments before the Supreme Court. Also provided are boxed featurettes that review social science research as it pertains to equal employment opportunity legal matters, as well as summaries of how many of the issues discussed in the book play out in practice.
