Abstract

A diverse sample of 503 matched dual-income relocated couples (employee and accompanying spouses) from 74 organizations across the United States and Canada provided data for the present study. Spouses’ interest in job-related relocation assistance was examined, and their differential interest in service explored across different types of spouses. Results indicated that variables such as sex of the accompanying spouse and job seeking self-efficacy were important in understanding spouses’ need for employment assistance. Results are discussed in terms of theory-building and practical suggestions for assisting spouses and their families following relocation.
