Abstract

This article presents a study on social identity theory which proposed that the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) provides a useful approach for understanding the process of attitude formation during times of organizational change. The article explains that the model created in the study can assist in understanding why common change management strategies may lead to positive employee reactions, and specifies the role of several social influence variables in predicting intentions to engage in specific behaviors. The article states that the research examined TPB in the context of a building relocation for a large local government organization.
