Abstract

Are there any disadvantages to a paid time off system? Only three that I can attest to: (1) With the traditional leave system being the mainstay for the typical organization, very few people have had the opportunity to experience a paid time off system. Consequently, selling the idea to employees is not easy. (2) Implementing the plan will probably not result in an increase in productivity if your staff are not prone to high achievement. However, the same could be true regardless of the type of benefit system you use. (3) Finally, since all unused time is eventually worth cash, the incidence ofunreported time off could increase. This form of abuse should simply not be tolerated at any level in the organization. Even considering disadvantages, I firmly believe the paid time off system will work to everyone's advantage, and I am convinced thatthe paid time off system is an essential component to an overall incentive system involving bonns pay. The system encourages increased productivity by promoting maximum attendance. As managers strive to increase real productivity in a variety of ways in order to remain competitive, the paid time off benefit system can be one painless approach to incorporate into the overall effort.
