Abstract
Software metrics are applied to get comparable values of the degree of particular software quality features. These are key “facts” that test managers use to understand their current position and to prioritize their activities to reduce the risk of schedule over-runs on software releases and can control software projects better. Metrics helps to measure current performance. This empirical study was conducted in various IT organizations. The objective of this study is investigation of frequentl ly used software metrics in the IT organizations nowadays. Based on t the detailed investigation, these are divided into four main groups: organization metrics, project metrics, process metrics and product metrics. Product metrics are used often in IT Industry now days.
