Abstract
We discuss empirical results for the eikonal function in the momentum transfer space, obtained with three model‐independent parametrizations for the scattering amplitude and fits to proton‐proton differential cross section data, from 19.4 to 62.5 GeV. For each parametrization, the data reductions indicate different contributions from the real and imaginary parts of the amplitude and in two cases, the extracted eikonal presents a change of signal around 6.5 GeV2. The empirical results are compared with the structures proposed in some representative eikonalmodels, suggesting novel insights for phenomenological developments.
