Abstract
The empirical relation between the detection efficiency and volume of Ge(Li) detectors obtained by Vaño et al. has been proved to be valid here by Monte Carlo simulation for HPGe detectors of active volume up to 175 cm 3. Simulations for the efficiency of the detectors with fixed active volume but different geometrical factors have also been made. It indicates that the slope of the HPGe detector efficiency curve depends only on the detector's active volume but not on its geometrical factor.
