Abstract

The evaluation presented in this research is to establish the correlation between compressive strength of concrete and flexural strength of concrete of grade 20 at mix ratio of 1:2:4 produced using foundry waste sand as a partial replacement for river sand at different replacement level of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25%. The aimed compressive strength was achieved at 15% replacement and the corresponding flexural strength of 3.14 N/mm2was dogged. The statistical method of least square was employed in investigating the correlation between compressive strength and flexural strength of concrete and the emerged graph showed a strong relationship with a coefficient of determination of 0.99 for 7days, 21days and 28days curing. Therefore, the linear regression models developed is considered fit in predicting flexural strength of concrete produced using foundry waste sand as a replacement for river sand at a known compressive strength and has simplified the process for finding concrete flexural responds for industrial application.
