Abstract

Emotions are individual and subjective experiences, felt in reaction to a specific situation. Pleasant or unpleasant, they are expressed in a more or less intense way and are inscribed in the body with more or less perceptible physical manifestations, such as a beating heart, dizziness, a feeling of heat or tears. We pay attention to them especially when their manifestations are uncomfortable and the temptation is then strong to flee them, to avoid them or to repress them. However, emotions have an adaptive function and prove to be precious allies in general, including in the field of illness.
