Abstract
Adult distance learners inevitably face more challenges in their educational pursuits compared to students in traditional, face-to-face classrooms. These challenges can comprise the social, environmental, personal, and especially the emotional aspect of adult learners’ lives. In order to surmount the emotional challenges met in their academic pursuit, adult distance learners need to practice emotional literacy. Emotional literacy is essential as it helps us to have more control over our emotions. It also teaches individuals to respect their own emotions and the emotions of others. This chapter discusses emotional literacy from a Malaysian perspective, as it pertains to global citizenship education.
