Abstract

Business managers must oversee all aspects of the company’s operations and behave accordingly when there is a breach in the contractual obligations within the organization. Among the chief ebb and flow responsibilities of managers are the daily fiscal responsibilities. In the past, white-collar crime continues to be the Achilles heel that has brought many power-house organizations to their knees. Enron and several prominent Fortune 500 companies are cases of destructive leadership with grave consequences. Leaders with the highest degree of integrity possess the necessary qualities to effectively govern corporate institutions. The literature reveals a continuing trend that indicates there is a causal relationship between leadership styles and the predisposition to act in an unethical manner. The research will also show that many organizations are suffering from an acute crisis of leadership. This paper will investigate the efficacy of emotional intelligence in corporate leaders as it relates to fraudulent behaviors that leads to unethical behavior.
