Abstract

Written by a well known American psychoanalyst, this book brings together much psychoanalytically oriented material about children and their emotional difficulties. The author uses the case discussion method somewhat after the example of Dr. Richard Cabot. Pediatricians will find this book valuable in acquiring better understanding of such disturbances as the neuroses, anxiety states, sex perversions and the psychoses. One section deals with methods of studying emotional disorders in children, another describes how children may be prepared for psychiatric examinations; this is followed by a discussion of what a psychiatric examination comprises.
